A Logic-based Switching Control Approach to Active Queue Management for Transmission Control Protocol

چکیده
A novel logic-based switching control strategy for internet congestion is applied for asymptotically stabilizing a class of transmission control protocol (TCP) networks at a desired operating point. We consider the problem of output feedback control instead of state-feedback control. The uncertainties with respect to the number of the active TCP sessions are considered. A high gain observer for the TCP window size is proposed to aid the task of designing an active queue management (AQM) controller with only the output (queue size) measurement. Implementation issues are also discussed. Simulations are provided to validate that the proposed design method can improve the transient performance of the system.

An Adaptive Congestion Alleviating Protocol for Healthcare Applications in Wireless Body Sensor Networks: Learning Automata Approach
Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...
متن کاملFuzzy Logic Control for Active Queue Management in TCP/IP Networks
This paper presents a new active queue management (AQM) scheme, Fuzzy Explicit Marking (FEM), supporting explicit congestion notification (ECN), to provide congestion control in TCP/IP best-effort networks using a fuzzy logic control approach. While many AQM mechanisms have recently been proposed, these require careful configuration of non-intuitive control parameters, and show weaknesses to de...
متن کاملInfinite Horizon Optimal Impulsive Control Theory with Application to Internet Congestion Control
We develop Bellman equation based approach for infinite time horizon optimal impulsive control problems. Both discounted and time average criteria are considered. We establish very general and at the same time natural conditions under which a canonical control triplet produces an optimal feedback policy. Then, we apply our general results for Internet congestion control providing a convenient s...
متن کاملOn Packet Marking Function of Active Queue Management Mechanism: Should It Be Linear, Concave, or Convex?
Recently, several gateway-based congestion control mechanisms have been proposed to support the endto-end congestion control mechanism of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol). In this paper, we focus on RED (Random Early Detection), which is a promising gateway-based congestion control mechanism. RED randomly drops an arriving packet with a probability proportional to its average queue length (i...
متن کاملUsing Fuzzy Logic Control to address challenges
Network management and control is a complex problem that requires robust, possibly intelligent, control methodologies to obtain satisfactory performance. Active Queue Management (AQM) mechanisms have been introduced to assist the TCP congestion control. We discuss the modeling and control approach followed by a number of representative AQM schemes, and address possible limitations to meet the d...
